Job Description
Overview The Assistant Controller supports the Controller in overseeing the organization's accounting operations, including the preparation of financial reports, maintenance of accounting records, and implementation of internal controls.
This role involves supervising accounting staff, managing month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and assisting in budgeting and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
The Assistant Controller plays a key role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
Responsibilities Essential Duties/Responsibilites Provide direct support to the Controller in managing the organization’s accounting operations across multiple entities.
Lead and execute monthly and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP.
Oversee the preparation and accuracy of key operating expense and compensation accruals, to ensure the period expense in the books best reflects reality.
Align with the broader FP&A and Marketing teams to streamline department expense reporting post month-end close.
Maintain expertise in the company's revenue recognition methodology and related accounting treatments, ensuring accurate booking of revenue in the general ledger.
Partner with Finance, Operations, and Data teams to understand and validate the end-to-end revenue data lifecycle, from source systems through the data warehouse and reporting layers.
Enhance daily and month-end internal reporting with regards to cash and headcount/ compensation metrics.
Perform bank, payroll, and balance sheet reconciliations; investigate and resolve variances.
Administer and enhance internal controls, policies, and audit procedures to safeguard organizational assets.
Streamline accounts payable processes and drive automation initiatives across the organization.
Partner with external accountants, auditors, and consultants during audits, filings, and special projects.
